After completing the Level 1 Reiki course, the most common question I receive is: ‘What if I apply different hand positions that we learned?’ During the course, we discuss the basics, and I always tell every student that the basic hand positions are for guidance, to understand how to start the treatments and how to use your hands in different positions. However, I also teach that it is more important to be part of the treatment than to follow the books, to learn to listen to your intuitions and use your hands as you feel. Being part of a Reiki treatment means feeling the client’s body and sensing where they need more attention, which you will never find in books. Reiki is more about experiencing the process and being part of it, feeling the energy flow and channeling it to your client. You will never know everything 100%, as every client is different. You can be a master and still feel like you are learning and growing, starting with yourself. The more you learn about yourself, the more you heal from your own blockages, the more you can help others heal and grow. Reiki is not an exact science; it came to us as channelled knowledge, and that’s how we have to accept it and improve our skills. Remember, even if you don’t have all the answers you are looking for, Reiki is more about trusting the process and understanding your role in it.
